A fun and easy one is to measure the height of tall objects with simple objects. A tape measure and a protractor is all you need. Let's say you wanted to know how tall a tree is. Stand at a point where the protractor says the top of the tree is 45 degrees from vertical, then measure the distance you are from the tree, and that's how tall the tree is. This works because an equilateral triangle has two sides of equal length with a 90 degree angle on one side. Have fun!
