my neurologist is prescribing me elavil for nerve pain , and said I could take vesicare with that for bladder spasms, but to take the vesicare in the a.m., and the elavil in the p.m.
he a very good doctor, but the pharmacist said NOT a good idea to mix this, as it can be dangerous...somewhat. The elavil is 10mg, and the vesicare is 5mg
i feel terrible questioning the doctor, but I am very concerned to take these together. I have a call into him with this question. If he says its ok, should I do that? It just shows a big red flag online.
please help...thanks

One would think that the pharmacist would be right; however the doctors are the ones who actually monitor the patient and check on the side effects they experience, so I would go with your neurologists decision.

There is nothing wrong with raising your concerns to your doctor. I think he is aware of the interaction potential between the two meds and that is why he split them up between morning and night. But it would be completely appropriate to call him and just say that you've been doing some research and you're a little concerned. He can explain the risks and how to reduce the potential for side effects.

ever hear of the old saying boctors are always right. A pharmacist learns about meds. A doc. knows what to give them to you for.
