so 2y+8=3y-24. Do the rest.......
If the question is-
2(y+4)=3(y-8)
How do you work it out? Best answer 5 stars, Thankyou :)

-
First, do the indicated multiplication to get rid of the parentheses:
2y + 8 = 3y - 24
Subtract 2y from both sides:
8 = y - 24
Add 24 to both sides:
32 = y

And ta-daaa!

-
Multiply out the brackets

2y + 8 = 3y - 24

Gather like terms together

8 + 24 = 3y - 2y

32 = y

-
distribute the 2 and the 3. so 2y+8=3y-24. Do the rest.

-
2(y+4)=3(y-8)
2y+8=3y-24
2y+32=3y
32=y

-
2(y+4)=3(y-8)
2y+8=3y-24
8+24=3y-2y
y=32

-
2(y+4)=3(y-8)
2y+8=3y-24
2y+32=3y
32=y
