Math Question about Quadratic Equations (10 Points)

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-12-23] [Hit: ]
The a b and c match to the 1 9 and 14.Now you plug the coefficients into the quadratic formula. The coefficient is the number in front of the W.You will have to look up the quadratic formula because its not something that I can write in a text box. After you have your terms in the formula, do the math to solve.......
The Question is (W-2) W-7) I don't just want the answer but I like to know how to find it. Thanks

If I understand the question correctly, you are supposed to use the quadratic formula to find the answer?

In order to use the quadratic formula you have to put the problem in ax^2 + bx + c = 0 Then you plug the coefficients from that equation into the quadratic formula.

To get (W-2)(W-7) into the form that we need it to be in, we need to FOIL. FOIL is just the acronym for the order which we multiply the two sets of numbers together. First Outside Inside Last
First- W*W=W^2 Outside-W*7 =7W Inside-2*W=2W Last-7*2 = 14 SO- W^2+7W+2W+14

Because 7W and 2W are like terms, they can be combined. That makes the form- W^2+9W+14 which matches our ax^2+bx+c formula. The a b and c match to the 1 9 and 14. the W's represent the x's
Now you plug the coefficients into the quadratic formula. The coefficient is the number in front of the W.

You will have to look up the quadratic formula because it's not something that I can write in a text box. After you have your terms in the formula, do the math to solve. Remember, you will get 2 answers. One + b and one -b. KEEP THE TWO ANSWERS SEPARATE.
