How to solve this? 1.25=2.7ⁿ

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-07-11] [Hit: ]
because of the natural log power rule,ln(1.25) = n*ln(2.then we divide both sides by ln(2.ln(1.25) / ln(2.......
n=?

-
1.25=2.7ⁿ

To solve for n, you have to take the natural log of both sides
ln(1.25) = ln(2.7ⁿ)

because of the natural log power rule, we can put n in front of the ln
ln(1.25) = n*ln(2.7)

then we divide both sides by ln(2.7)
ln(1.25) / ln(2.7) = n

At this point, we use a calculator to get n. So plug n in.
n ≈ 0.224659605

EDIT:

@ Sajani

You can't subtract the logs like that
ln(1.25) / ln(2.7) does not mean ln(1.25-2.7)

I think you meant
ln(a/b) is ln(a) - ln(b) only

but they're not the same and you don't need it here

-
n=(lg1.25)/(lg2.7)=lg(-1.45)=indetermind… No solution.
