The formula √(ab)=√a x √b is valid only if at least one of a,b is +ve. Consider the following:
1=√1 =√{(-1)x(-1)}=√-1 x √-1 = i x i = i^2 =-1. So 1=-1. Step 3 is invalid here. Your infringes the same rule.
