-y = 1 + 4x (divide both sides by -1)

It's exactly like multiplying by -1 if that helps; you need to flip the signs of everything on both sides of the equal sign. It makes no difference that y is a variable opposed to another number.
-y = 1 + 4x
+y = -1 -4x
Technically you don't need the + sign in front of the y, I just put it there to emphasize the change in sign.

HI THIS IS SOMEKID ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION
y = 1 + 4x (divide both sides by -1)
-y = -1 * y
so -1 / -1 =1
1/-1 = -1
4x/-1 = -4x (because positive divided by negative equals negative)
your answer is
y= -1-4x
:)
hope this helped

when you decide both sides by -1 it makes a + become - and a - become +
so
-y becomes y
-1 becomes 1
and 4x become -4x
put it all together
y=-1-4x
btw what grade level math is this?
so
-y becomes y
-1 becomes 1

-
-y=1+4x
-1 -1
y=-1+4x
-1 -1
y=-1+4x
-
y = -1 - 4x
-
it's
y = -1 - 4x
y = -1 - 4x

Yeah but i dont get do u find the value or what?
