3x^2 - 12x = 0
3x(x - 4) = 0
x = 0 , 4
Edit: All the people below got the wrong answer, The wise got the right answer but his method is incorrect, remember that you never divde both sides of an equation by the variable(unknown), the reason as you noticed is the elimination of one the roots of the quadratic equation, which in this case x = 0 was lost. Always move all your varaibles to one side and then use factoring, formula etc.. to solve for x.
Regards.

Divided by 3, we have:
x^2 = 4x
divided by x (where x != 0)
x = 4
therefore for this equation, the solutions are:
x = 4 and x = 0.
NOTE: I divide by 'x' to solve only.

Divide everything by 3x
x = 4
I hope this information was very helpful.

do 3x2 which equals 6
6=12x
12 times 1/2 =6
x=1/2
6=12x
12 times 1/2 =6
x=1/2

6=12x
x=6/12
x=1/2
x=6/12
x=1/2
