Heres the deal: I'm 13 and the teachers are making us do two step algebra. you can't blame me for needing help. Please help me! If you can, include the work and check, but you don't have to.

9. 7a + 4= -17
10. -5s - 13= -68
11. 12 - x= 19
12. n/6 - 4 = 4
13. d/3.2 + 6= 21
14. 1/2p - 7= -27
15. 0 = 14t + 26
16. 3/4m - 5= 16
17. 3.4c- 1.7= 6.8

9. 7a + 4= -17
1.) Get a by itself by subtracting 4: 7a = -21
2.) Divide 7 on both sides: a = -3; Answer

10. -5s - 13= -68
1.) Add 13 on both sides: -5s = -55
2.) Divide -5 on both sides: s = 11; Answer

11. 12 - x= 19
1.) Subtract 12 on both sides: -x=7
2.) Divide by -1: x = -7; Answer

12. n/6 - 4 = 4
1.) Add 4 on both sides: n/6 = 8
2.) Multiply 6 to get n by itself: n = 48

13. d/3.2 + 6= 21
1.) Subtract 6 on both sides: d/3.2 = 15
2.) Multiply 3.2 on both sides: d = 48

14. 1/2p - 7= -27
1.) Add 7 on both sides: 1/2p = -20
2.) Multiply 2 on both sides (reciprocal): p = -40

15. 0 = 14t + 26
1.) Subtract 26 on both sides: 14t = -26
2.) Divide 14 on both sides: t = -13/7

16. 3/4m - 5= 16
1.) Add 5 on both sides: 3/4m = 21
2.) Multiply by the reciprocal (4/3): m = 28

17. 3.4c- 1.7= 6.8
1.) Add 1.7 on both sides: 3.4c = 8.5
2.) Divide 3.4 on both sides: c = 2.5

I'll give you the first one to try and help you to understand the concept.
What you're trying to do is get the variable "a" alone.
9.) 7a+4=-17
-4 -4 Subtract 4 from each side
7a=-21 Wite Equation
/7 /7 Divide 7 from each side
a=-3

In that problem, your first step is to subtract or add the opposite sign to the other side of the equation. (If the problem is 7a+4 you would subtract 4 from each side because the original value was +4)
