I thought wasps hibernate in winter but I found a massive one in my house yesterday after I left the door open for a while. My friend had one in her house the other week aswel!
Why are they out in winter and did anyone notice this summer how BIG they are now?

Yeah, the weather here in California has been strange too - in the 60s and low 70s during the day, when it is typically in the 50s and raining in January. As a result, bees are out pollinating flowers, which are in bloom months ahead of time.
Global climate change. You know - the stuff they call a myth.

YES they have become inexplicably enormous!
But Ive never heard of them emerging in January; you might want to entertain the idea that you have a wasps' nest in your house. They're usually in the loft but they also appear in basements (If you have one.)

Because your house is warmer than outside. They can sense the heat and try to get close to it.
