please find all the roots of the following :
y= 16x to the 4th minus 1
i am not sure will it be 8x squared , but what do you do from there, please help. please explain how you got your answer Thank you x1000000000000000000

We need to factor 16x^4 - 1
Write it as (4x^2)^2 -1 and it becomes a difference of squares, so we get
(4x^2 - 1)(4x^2 + 1)
The first factor is another difference of squares, so it factors further:
(2x-1)(2x+1)(4x^2 +1)
The last factor, however, is irreducible- we can't factor it anymore because the discriminant is negative.
Now, to find the roots, we look for the numbers that make each factor 0.
2x-1 = 0 means x = 1/2 is a root
2x+1 = 0 means x= -1/2 is a root
4x^2 +1 is never 0, so we're done. The roots are 1/2 and -1/2

...you have to try to ask better questions !
y = 16x^4 - 1
16x^4 - 1 = 0
(4x^2 + 1)(4x^2 - 1) = 0
(4x^2 + 1)(2x + 1)(2x - 1) = 0
set each factor equal to zero...
4x^2 + 1 = 0
x^2 = - 1/4
x = ± (i√2)/2
2x + 1 = 0
x = - 1/2
2x - 1 = 0
x = 1/2
check

y= 16x to the 4th minus 1
y=16x^4-1 use a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)
y=(4x^2-1)(4x^+1)=
(2x-1)(2x+1)(4x^2+1)
x=-1/2
x=1/2
x=-i/2
x=i/2
y=16x^4-1 use a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)
y=(4x^2-1)(4x^+1)=
(2x-1)(2x+1)(4x^2+1)
x=-1/2
x=1/2
x=-i/2
x=i/2

Im pretty sure it is y=65535. I got this because 16x to the fourth is 65536x then -1 comes to 65535. Im not 100% sure but pretty sure.
