What is the inverse step in algebra

The questions are:
1) -18 = -y - 4

2) (-2/5)y = -4/5

I know how to solve for the variables but I'm not sure what the inverse step is.
Could someone show me how they got it and what it is?

1)

-18 = -y - 4

Inverse of -y is +y, so add y to both sides:
-18 + y = -4

Inverse of -18 is +18, so add 18 to both sides:
y = -4 + 18
y = 14

--------------------

2)

(-2/5) y = -4/5

The inverse step of *(-2/5) is ÷(-2/5) which is = to *(-5/2)
So multiply both sides by (-5/2)

(-5/2) * (-2/5) y = (-5/2) * (-4/5)
1 * y = 20/10
y = 2
