Are you working with determinants via matrix's? Honestly, it's not that difficult.. it just looks intimidating because it's new. Focus, and you'll get it! If I recall, someone around here for a 100% on a math exam before..

the above could be used for a matrix or two vectors v1 = a i + b j and v2 = c i + b j

det for:

a___b___c
d___e___f

= (bf - ec) - (af - cd) + (ae - bd)

the above could be used for some two vectors v1 = a i + b j + c k and v2 = d i + e j + f k
