............
√-5+3y +1=6

the square root extends to 3y

whats the answer? thanks in advance

-
sqrt(-5 + 3y) + 1 = 6
sqrt(-5 + 3y) = 6 - 1
sqrt(-5 + 3y) = 5
-5 + 3y = 5^2
-5 + 3y = 25
3y = 25 + 5
3y = 30
y = 30/3
y = 10

-
√(15+3y)+1=6
..............-1.-1
....√(15+3y)=5
.√(15+3y)^2=5^2
........15+3y=25
.......-15.......-15
..............3y=10
............------.-----
..............3.....3
................y=(10/3)
plug it back into the original equation to confirm your answer
.......√(15+3y)+1=6
√(15+3(10/3))+1=6
.......√(15+10)+1=6
............√(25)+1=6
..................5+1=6
......................6=6 obviously the answer was correct :)
