if you are asked to find implicit differentiaion... you have to take the derivative of both sides? and then what? what is the method?
-
Take the differentiation of both sides, and isolate dy/dx in most cases.
For example:
3x + 3y = 9
Implicit Differentiation would be:
3 x dx/dx + 3 x dy/dx = 0
3 + 3 x dy/dx = 0
3 x dy/dx = -3
dy/dx = -1
For example:
3x + 3y = 9
Implicit Differentiation would be:
3 x dx/dx + 3 x dy/dx = 0
3 + 3 x dy/dx = 0
3 x dy/dx = -3
dy/dx = -1

take the derivative with respect to one of the variables and then isolate the derivative that you are looking for.
