Your answer is 15.2.) The two factors you have will have to multiply to be 15 and add to be 16.3.) The two factors are 1 and 15.4.......
1.) Muliply 5 x 3. Your answer is 15.
2.) The two factors you have will have to multiply to be 15 and add to be 16.
3.) The two factors are 1 and 15. ( 1x 15 = 15) (1 + 15 = 16 )
4.) Your polynomial now looks like... 3z^2+1z+15z+5
5.) Next you have to seperate the polynomial into 3z^2+z and 15z+5
6.) Then you factor the two smaller equations...
3z^2+z 15z+5
----------- ----------
z 5
3z+ 1 3z+1

Your answer is made up of the answer your get once you divide... (3z+1) and what you divided to get 3z+1 which is z+5.

***** (3z+1) (z+5) ***** <-- your final answer :)

Hope this helped :)

(3*z + 1)*(z + 5)

Consider: the coefficients of z must multiply to give 3. The only factors of 3 are 3 and 1.

The constants must multiply to give 5. The only factors of 5 are 5 and 1.

So is it (3*z + 1)*(z + 5) or (3*z + 5)*(z + 1)? Use FOIL to multiply them out, and you'll find it's the first one- the other gives 8*z, not 16*z in the middle.
