EASY MATHS QUESTION!!!

I am confused as to how -14/5 -2 equals to -24/5. HELP!

-2= -10/5, common denominator
then you add/subtract the numerators
-14 -10= -24
so its -24/5

you divide -14 by 5 getting -2.8 you the take away -2 and get -4.8
in the mean time you divide -24 by 5 and get, surprise surprise, -4.8

Convert 2 into fractions by multiplying the top and the bottom by 5.

2*5=10
----------
1*5=5.

Now add.

-14 - 10 = -24
---------- ------
5 5

Ok, so -14/5 = -2.8

Then, -2.8 - 2 = -4.8

And, -24/5 = -4.8

-4.8 = -4.8

Get it ?

they are not -14/5-2=4.67 and -24 /=-4.8
