How do you get faster at math

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-27] [Hit: ]
I had a chemistry test today(which was basically a math test) and I did not finish. This was the first time I did not finish a chemistry test. There were 30 problems, and I did not finish the test. Almost the whole class did not finish. I missed 8 questions.......
I am generally very good in math, and it is one of my favorite subjects, but the problem is that I am kinda slow. It wasn't a big problem before, but it is a slight problem now. I had a chemistry test today(which was basically a math test) and I did not finish. This was the first time I did not finish a chemistry test. There were 30 problems, and I did not finish the test. Almost the whole class did not finish. I missed 8 questions. This is not a big problem right now, but I am taking AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C, and Calculus III next year, and if I dont get faster at math...it is going to be hell... So can someone please give me tips on getting faster in math, AND maintain the accuracy? I am one of the best math students in my class but I am not the fastest, so can someone please give me some tips?

THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!

I agree with Jonathan Dean, practise makes perfect.

You should do some time basic arithmetic worksheets, as simple as 2 digits multiplication and division and simple algebra. See how many can you solve under 5 - 10 min, and keep trying to beat
your record. You can write them yourself or your peer, but they're everywhere on the Internet.

You can practise:
multiplication and division, (2 - 3 digits)
Patterning, practises reaction skills. They could be applied to arithmetics.
mental math on 3 - 4 digits adding and subtracting
Try not to use a calculator, when not dealing with square roots, factorial, and numbers that have 6 or more digits (include decimals)

Here is one place that offers work sheets

You don't have to go hours a day, simply 10 - 30 min, covering all fields would be great, but you have to do them everyday (surely you have 10 min / day to spare)

I wouldn't get too strung up on it if I were you. I am a mathematics teacher and it is quite common for teachers to set tests that students can't finish in the given time. This is probably why most of he class didn't finish.

As for getting faster, the key is repetition and practice. Just keep doing it. Eventually you will find a way that works for you and you will get more instantaneous in your answer speed.

You can always do your math in a train.
