You want to make sure that there's a different y for each x.
For B, 3 and -5 both have -1 as the x.
For C, -2 and -4 both have 2 as the x.
So, neither of them are functions.

Also, you could try graphing all of these and seeing if they pass the vertical line test: if you take a vertical line and sweep it across your entire graph, will it touch any part of the graph at more than one point? Look it up in your text book or ask your teacher because this is a pretty fundamental thing not to understand.

A. from -1 to 3, it's 4. from 0 to -1 is 1. 4 and 1 are not the same so the answer is not A.
B. from -1 to 3, it's 4. from -1 to -5, it's 4. 4 and 4 are the same, but you have to check the rest. from 2
to 7, it's 5. 4 and 5 are not the same the answer is not B.
C. from -1 to 5, it's 6. from 0 to 4, it's 4. 6 and 4 are not the same so the answer is not C.
D. NONE OF THE ABOVE ---------> none of the answers were correct so it must be ... D

A is the answer. There can't be more than one Y point on each X point so B and C are canceled out. A is the correct answer trust me. Oh and listen to your teacher in class.
