. you just use the ^ function ..so the first one you do 810000 x1.04^4 = 947585.this is because it increases 4 percent per year.......
The population of a city is 810000. If it is increasing by 4% per year, estimate the population in four
years.

A painting, purchased for $10000 in 1990, increased in value by 8% per year. Find the value of the
painting in the year 2000.

There was this sheet i found online and i was just trying some of the questions for my test wed but Im not sure how to do any of these questions :|

-
what you do is simple ... you just use the ^ function ..

so the first one you do 810000 x 1.04^4 = 947585.4336

this is because it increases 4 percent per year..... so 1.04 ( because 1 =100 and 0.4 =4 percent) then because it is 4 years you use the ^ function with whatever question.. =)

second one:

10000 x 1.08^10 = 21589.2499727279

again this is because 1 = 100 percent and the 0.08 the 8 percent increase then because it is 10 years you do ^10 =)

hope it helped!
