One more time. Help with Fraction problem please

,,,, which is the same as MULTIPLYING entire equation by -4/19!for the x term,......
1/2x + 1/4y - 70 = 5y + 1/4x - 6 which would simplify to: -19/4y= -1/4x+ 64 which would then equal to the final answer: y= 1/19x - 256/19

I'm not that good at fractions and this is on the homework software, but Idk how to get the answer.. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

1/2x + 1/4y - 70 = 5y + 1/4x - 6

1/4y - 5y = -1/2x +1/4x -6 +70

(1/4 - 20/4)y = (-2/4 + 1/4)x +64

-19/4y = -1/4x + 64

divide entire equation by -19/4,,,,, which is the same as MULTIPLYING entire equation by -4/19!

-4/19(-19/4)y = -4/19 [-1/4x + 64]

y = (-1)(-4)/(19)(4)x + (-4)(64)/(19)(1)

for the x term, NOTE that 4/4 = 1, so they cancel each other out, leaving you with

y= 1/19x - 256/19

you can't solve any further from here, and you can't simplify anything further, you're done.

Perhaps multiply both sides by 19 ?

19 ( y ) = 19 ( 1/19x - 256/19 )

19y = x - 256

then perhaps add 256 to both sides

256 + ( 19y ) = 256 + ( x - 256 )

256 + 19y = x

reorder

x = 19y + 256
