OK, in general when working with fractions:
1/a of 1/b = 1/a * 1/b = 1/(ab)
some good examples:
what is 1/2 of 1/2 = 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4 => notice that to get half of a fraction all you need is to multiply the denominator by 2:
1/2 of 1/15 = 1/30...etc
I hope this helps.

half (half (1 litre)) = 250 milliliters
-
1/2 x 1/2 = 1x1 / 2+1 = 1/3
One-third of a litre

1/2 of a litre is 1/2 litre (1000ml / 2 = 500ml)
1/2 of 1/2 a liter is therefore 1/4 a litre (500 / 2 = 250ml)
1/2 of 1/2 a liter is therefore 1/4 a litre (500 / 2 = 250ml)

!/2 Litre = 500 mL
1/2 of 1/2 Litre = 1/2 of 500 mL = 250 mL = 1/4 Litre
1/2 of 1/2 Litre = 1/2 of 500 mL = 250 mL = 1/4 Litre
