I have never been very good with fractions, nor variables, so this equation is proper Hell for me.
Seventh grade math should not be this way.

First try to keep all terms containing variables on left hand side and push all the numbers to the right hand sides as shown below
7k/8-5k/16 = 3/8+3/4
7k(2)/8(2) -5k/16 = 3/8 + 3(2)/4(2) --------> Multiply and divide the numbers that makes the denominators same
14k/16 - 5k/16 = 3/8 + 6/8
(14k-5k)/16 = (3+6)/8
9k/16 = 9/8
cross multiply
9k * 8 = 9 * 16
Cancel 9 on both sides and 8 * 2 =16
Therefore K = 2
7k/8-5k/16 = 3/8+3/4
7k(2)/8(2) -5k/16 = 3/8 + 3(2)/4(2) --------> Multiply and divide the numbers that makes the denominators same
14k/16 - 5k/16 = 3/8 + 6/8
(14k-5k)/16 = (3+6)/8
9k/16 = 9/8
cross multiply
9k * 8 = 9 * 16
Cancel 9 on both sides and 8 * 2 =16
Therefore K = 2
-
7k/8-3/4-5k/16 = 3/8
(14k - 12 - 5k)/16 = 3/8....take a common denominator
(9k - 12)/16 = 3/8...simplify
72k - 96 = 48...cross multiplication
72k = 144
k = 2
(14k - 12 - 5k)/16 = 3/8....take a common denominator
(9k - 12)/16 = 3/8...simplify
72k - 96 = 48...cross multiplication
72k = 144
k = 2

JUST MULTIPLY BOTH SIDES BY 16
14k - 12 - 5k = 6
9k = 18
k = 2 ANSWER
14k - 12 - 5k = 6
9k = 18
k = 2 ANSWER
-
14k/16 - 5k/16 = 3/8 + 3/4
9k/16 = 9/8
k = 16/8
k = 2
9k/16 = 9/8
k = 16/8
k = 2
-
7k/8-3/4-5k/16=3/8
14k-12--5k=6
9k=18
k=2
14k-12--5k=6
9k=18
k=2
-
k = 2
lcm of 4,8 & 16 is 16
lhs = (9k - 12) / 16
equate lhs and rhs
9k = 18
hence k = 2
lcm of 4,8 & 16 is 16
lhs = (9k - 12) / 16
equate lhs and rhs
9k = 18
hence k = 2
