''Need help in math !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'' again with integers

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-24] [Hit: ]
so count 9 places to the left. You should end up with -17.-If you have a negative integer (-8), and are subtracting a positive integer (+9), you will be going more negative. For example; if you owe someone $8.......
Explain how to find the difference negative 8 subtract positive 9 ??

-
Imagine a number line with negative numbers on the left and positive numbers on the right. If it helps, actually draw one and label the numbers. Find -8. Because you're subtracting, you're making the number smaller, so count 9 places to the left. You should end up with -17.

-
If you have a negative integer (-8), and are subtracting a positive integer (+9), you will be going more negative. For example; if you owe someone $8.00 (-8), and you borrow $9.00 more (+9), you now owe that person $17.00 (-17).
Keep in mind, too, that when you subtract a negative number, you are actually ADDING that number. Using the same example; if you owe someone $8.00 (-8), and that person TAKES AWAY (-) from you $9.00 (-9), that person now has to give you $1.00 back (+1).
Hope this explanation helps!

-8 - + 9 = -17

think about sand bags and balloons...

sand bags are negative and balloons are positive

if there is a chair floating in the sky, with a bunch of balloons attach to it(to make it float). First you would first start at 0. Then, since it says -8 you go downward 8 ft to go down you add 8 sandbags. and then it says - +9 which means to subtract positive nine, so you would be taking away balloons. if you take away 9 balloons more balloons including the 8, it would be -17.

hope it helped. :)

(- 8 ) - 9 = (- 8 ) + (- 9)

HERE'S HOW
By subtracting positive 9, you're really adding negative 9 because if you subtract a positive number, adding a negative number because you're adding less.
Example; (-2) - 1 = (-2) + (-1 )

-
Difference means subtraction so -8-(+9)=-8-9 i.e since negative times positive is equal to negative
= -17

-
if you take 9 away from negative 8, there will be negative 17. If you take -9 from -8 there will be 1. basically 8+9 and 9-8. I use backwards math so it might not make sense
Hope I helped in a way?

-
Umm easy it's like nine minus eight only with integers,so its a positive one.

-
integer is ANY whole number babe

-
Start with -8 on a number line. You're subtracting 9, so you would go down even further. You would have -17.

-
IT'S -17
