Hi there,
It can be easy if you go prepared! I would suggest to read the book from cover to cover, first. It is available online and free here:
http://find-a-driving-school.ca/drivers-…
The try out those practice tests at
http://find-a-driving-school.ca/free-g1-…
After you spend some time on the tests, you will figure out which sections you need to study more (those most likely be with 'numeric' information - like demerit points, speed limits, feet 'from' and 'to' and hours, etc.) Refresh those sections and run the tests again.
You are allowed to make only 4 mistakes in each section (there are two of them, with 20 questions each). Even if you make only 1 mistake in road signs, but 5 - in road rules, you've failed. So - be careful and concentrated.
Good luck!

The written test is NOT easy to pass at all. Many people fail the test more than once, and you must pay the test fee each time you take the test. The questions are multiple choice, but the choices are tricky - you need to read them very carefully and not rush through them.
Get a copy of The Drivers Handbook at Canadian Tire and study all its sections until you know the answers in the practice test at the back of the book. This takes time - it's like studying for a test at school. You will also find copies of the test in the links below. (The number of questions isn't important - you need mostly correct answers to pass!)
P.S. I've had to coach others after their first failure, especially those with weak English reading skills.
