I can't say that in which discipline less writing is there, but i can say undoubtedly that in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering there are more amount of reports & other content to write than others.

They ALL require writing. I don't think any branch of engineering requires more or less writing than the others.
Engineers who write clearly and grammatically will always have more credibility than engineers who don't have writing skills. Good communicators get promotions and more pay; poor communicators stagnate.
That is why you are required to study English composition. Besides learning English grammar, one must be able to get his ideas across so that colleagues, management, other departments, and customers know what you are trying to express.

However, I would add that EVERY discipline in which you may get a degree requires English writing and possibly other communicating skills. In fact, communication is a necessary skill in almost any endeavor. You must be able to clearly and concisely communicate your ideas or NOTHING will become of them!
Look at it this way, writing skills will also help you on exams, especially advanced exams that qualify you for professional credentials. It also helps you on job applications.
