I have an old white xbox 360. I've had it working for 4 years.
What should I do:
A. Get my xbox 360 fixed (by someone) {if A then by who for the cheapest and best price}
B. Get a new xbox 360 {white one or new black one? If I get black one how do I switch my hard drives and keep my saved video game information?}
C. Fix my xbox 360 by myself {tell me how please}
D. Other, what?

B. Get a new xbox, they go pretty cheap you will have to get the the official microsoft transfer kit, which allows you to transfer data from an old xbox hdd to the new one. I'd pick the black one with the glossy finish, I personally don't like the matte finish. I'd also pick up the 250GB model as this will allow you to have more arcade games, dlc and games to be installed to your hardrive.
Reasons for not choosing A. and C;
A.: Choosing A. would require you to pay quite some money (money which could be used to buy a new xbox 360 slim), for something that may hit the Red Ring of Death again.
C.: Choosing C would mean that you would fix the xbox 360 yourself by reading a tutorial from one of answers. This may seem like a good idea, but it may require you buying a new motherboard, or electrical components which you will have to order in yourself personally. As in order for one of us answering your question we would need to see the xbox ourselves personally to know what the real problem is. The problem could be hardware or software related, though most of the time it's a hardware problem.

WAIT! Before you take this advice, I had that happen to me and had a bunch of game data on that HD I didn't want to lose. I ended up figuring out that you can actually unscrew the case of the old original xbox HD and plug that into a brand new black xbox 360. It takes a small screwdriver but works!!

3. rebox broken xbox with new serial plate.
4. return and ask for money back.
5. instant new xbox if you have the munnies.
