I think humans in general are pretty violent. We may well destroy ourselves before ever getting to that goal.

But if it ever happens, I think it will be either biologically, or, virtually.

There are so many cool advances into the understanding of life these days. Biologically if humabs were to attain immortality, I would say the said specimen would be much genetically alteted. We might one day find how to stop aging. Different organisms, such as lobsters, are known to essentially never age. We could learn the key to developing this into our own biology.

If not this way, we could develope maybe virtual immortality. Perhaps one day man could upload his mind into a computer or robot host. We of course could still be destroyed, or hacked, of course, but would be free of many things associated with biology such as aging, pain and disease.

Maybe we will become immortal some day, maybe not. Prolly not in our lifetimes I would guess.

Probably, yes. In the next couple of hundred years I would imagine they would "crack" it via extensive research aha. However, if it is ever discovered it will be the ultimate downfall to humanity. Immortality is not a good thing and with a drug that powerful, you would become a very very very sought after man.

Not to mention if a drug was mass produced, the effects of over-population would be catastrophic.

I believe that it is possible but I don't think governments would allow people to become immortal because it would cause social calamity. I do see it possible if the earth remains around for another 100 years or so, moores law says that the power of technology doubles every two years and this had remained constant. Also we have become more and more competent with manipulating things that naturally occur on this earth we can take apart matter to scale of small dots and reorganize them in some ways. People in the 1900s had a very short life span compared to modern folks and this can be contributed to science and medicine. If we can find a cure for cancers and viruses the life span of our society would rise even farther. But is that good for are society and who determines that answer?
