The International Space Station is a joint project between the USA, Russia, Japan, Canada and the European Space Agency. American astronauts are presently being ferried to and from the space station by a Russian launch vehicle. How is the NOT international cooperation by the USA?
And, since you mention it, the US unemployment rate stands at 8.2 percent. That's entirely too high, but no where near one-half of the adult population.

Paranoia of minds that are stuck in Cold War mode of thinking except now China is the enemy and bogeyman Or *00 pound gorilla in the room instead of the U.S.S.R. The Chinese people will eventually revolt , but they are still catching up because of 100 years or more of totalitarian government ignoring the masses. Look how far China has come since it allowed WESTERN capitalism in specific cities. There's a full scale Industrial revolution going on in China right now similar to what the USA went through in WW II but different. That terrifies some U.S.A. politicians. Manifest Destiny and the American Dream have become international and global. Many U.S.A.middle aged politicians who grew up during the end of WW II and the Cold War with the hot flip side the Vietnam War cannot handle that the world's economy and social movements are GLOBAL now because of telecommunications. Something happens in Libya, some one films it their cell phone and uploads to the Internet and it goes viral just as fast as the telecommunications satellites can transmit it. I DID grow up during the Cold war, and I am amazed that I am living see this happen in MY life time. When I was a teenager I didn't think there was any chance that this would or could possibly happen within less than 200 to 300 years.
