How do I make a laser sword (serious question)

Dont you think this would be great?Science would be able to set into a whole NEW level making our world better!-High power lasers are already a well-funded research project. They may be key to nuclear fusion-based power generation. The only ways to bend an electromagnetic wave are to change the material it passes through or to bend it by relativistic bending of space by gravity. The only way to confine an electromagnetic wave is to have it reflect off of some sort of boundaries,......
I need some blueprints on how to do it. (serious)

I'm planning for it to generate solar energy and wind power.

Being serious, I would be extremely happy if this works out, then we would not have to use nuclear bombs and stuff. Because I would then give my knowledge to the people and we should be able to found out how to make laser cannons as strong or little weaker then nuclear bombs and ect and our technology would raise up even higher! Don't you think this would be great? =D

Science would be able to set into a whole NEW level making our world better!

High power lasers are already a well-funded research project. They may be key to nuclear fusion-based power generation.

Some key things you need to understand about why a laser sword can't be made:

The only ways to bend an electromagnetic wave are to change the material it passes through or to bend it by relativistic bending of space by gravity. The only way to confine an electromagnetic wave is to have it reflect off of some sort of boundaries, such as the cladding of an optical fiber or a metal pipe for microwave/satellite signals. Therefore the idea of a finite length sword is absurd. The closest thing you could do would be to focus the beam at a defined length and let it diverge after that length, but then only the "tip" would be "sharp." It would have no interaction with any other electromagnetic wave, so it wouldn't be able to bend or block laser shots like in Star Wars.

A lightsaber or laser sword is more viably a plasma weapon, as plasmas can be contained using magnetic fields. They also take hundreds of watts to maintain even in controlled environments, and would take thousands of watts to maintain a plasma for more than a few seconds in an uncontrolled environment, and it would likely be unstable if you tried.

The energy released in a nuclear bomb is fantastically huge. To deliver an equivalent energy density via laser beam would require at least as much energy as a nuclear bomb to fire the laser (essentially you would have to set off a nuclear bomb and then harness all that energy, so you might as well just use the bomb as a bomb).

If you want to have a serious discussion about this, send me a message and I'd be happy to inform you in the principles of physics so you can stop thinking about sci-fi and perhaps start thinking about real science.

IMPOSSIBRU!!!

...I think science has 'helped' the world enough, thanks.

not possible
