Are JPL and NASA, the same thing if not can you please explain it to me? Im really confused? :S

Yes and no. NASA is a government administration that is separated into many different branches. JPL is just one of those branches.

No, they are NOT the Same thing. The Jet Propulsion Laborary is a department of NASA run by Califonia Inststute of Technoly. Flight control of unmanned missions is often done at JPL or at another university, like the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. The Mar's Phoenix mission had JPL people working at LPL in Tucson. I know some one who was JPL intern at the time who was keeping Mars hours in the summer of 2008. I'm going to have to ask his mom if he's still on leave from JPL while earning his Ph.D. in high energy astrophysics at Berkeley.

They're not the same thing; JPL is a California research facility founded in 1936 that was put under the administration of NASA when NASA was created in 1958. Caltech actually manages JPL on behalf of NASA. Check out the link below for more details.
