where can you find hills with layers of craters on them that are filled with water? i've seen photos although i can't seem to find them now. people seem to swim in the them and i feel like i've seen them in movies before... like ancient greek-themed movies.

Do you mean Pamukkale in Turkey? They are terraces rather than craters but people do swim in them.

Extinct volcanoes. If the volcano was located in a climate that has a lot of rain, and the cauldera becomes non porus with debris.
