How do Tsunamis relate to our global culture

Was wondering how tsunamis relate to our global culture, thanks!!

They affect coastal communities, and could certainly influence habits, practices and structures in areas that are struck by them. They could easily be the cause of myths, legends and stories among coastal residents where tsunamis could occur, especially if they only occur once every hundred or two hundred years or so, so the stories of the past events get magnified and distorted over repeated telling.

Globally, I think there is little to no effect on culture. it is highly regional.
