in an area with an active volcano so the risk of an eruption is low?
then you can dump the magma in the ocean so it'll form rock and make a home for algae and stuff :D...
But seriously, if you had a 12 inch thick tube, drilled it in a caldera, drained it and then plugged it up...somehow...would it work?

No
if anything, you'll start an eruption. the pressure on the magma will be released and any dissolved gases will come out of solution, and this will cause an eruption
