Soc the Poet left out something very, very important: maintenance costs. Not only do I think his estimate of the initial cost is low, maintenance, which absolutely MUST be done, costs thousands of dollars a year. Then there's the operating costs. They're immense energy-gobblers. The techs who operate them are highly skilled specialists who earn nice fat salary and benefits packages - you ain't gonna run that equipment with part-timers. Guess what? You're talking big bucks, bro!
