The axial skeleton has the same function in all vertebrates, be they frogs or humans. The axial skeleton is the skull and vertebral column and the ribs and sternum. It is there to protect the brain and spinal cord and the organs of the chest (lungs and heart). Frog or dog or human, there is no difference in function. All vertebrates have an axial skeleton.
