Will PbS precipitate or dissolve in a solution? Chemistry help?!

making the PbS soluble.Hope that helps.........
If PbS is added to a solution would it dissolve or precipitate?
A. PbS + NaS
B. PbS + HF
C. PbS + LiNO
D. PbS + CsOH

All are aqueous solutions and I know PbS is insoluble/not that soluble and I tried to write out the equations but I still couldnt figure out how to tell if it would dissolve or precipitate.
Thanks

The way to think about this is to start with the equilibrium of dissolving PbS:

PbS(s) <--> Pb2+ + S2-

Now, you basically think about LeChatlier's principle and how each of the solutions might affect this equilibrium.

A. The solution already has S2- in it from the Na2S (you didn't write the 2 in your question). That will shift the equilibrium to the left, decreasing the already small solubility of PbS.

B. HF will react with S2- forming HS- and H2S. Since you will be removing S2-, the equilibrium will shift to the right, and PbS will be more soluble.

C. Is this actually LiNO or LiNO3? In either case, it shouldn't affect the solubility of PbS, and it will basically precipitate.

D. Pb2+ ions will form a complex with OH- ions: Pb(OH)42-. That will remove the Pb2+ ions from the equilibrium shifting it to the right, making the PbS soluble.

Hope that helps...
