240 − x is all in the denominator, because its not clear from your notation.√54.3 = 2x/(.Multiply both sides by .(.......
I have to solve for x:

sqrt (54.3) = 2x/.240 - x

I know how to set up the tables etc but I'm having trouble solving for x. could someone show me the easiest way? either with a graphing calc (i have a TI-84) or with an equation.

Step by step, if you could!

Thanks!!

I'm going to assume that .240 − x is all in the denominator, because it's not clear from your notation.

Given:
√54.3 = 2x/(.240 − x)

Multiply both sides by .240 − x:
(.240 − x)√54.3 = 2x

Distribute:
.240√54.3 − x√54.3 = 2x

Add x√54.3 to both sides:
.240√54.3 = x√54.3 + 2x

Factor out x:
.240√54.3 = x(√54.3 + 2)

Divide by (√54.3 + 2):
x = .240√54.3/(√54.3 + 2) ≈ 0.1887664092
