What is the molarity of fluoride ion

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-09-04] [Hit: ]
molarity = 7.89 x 10^-5 mol/L or 7.......
That's all my textbook asks and it gives 1.5 mg F-/L

-
Molarity = concentration of a solute in a given volume of solution. Measured in moles per litre (mol L^-1) or Molar (M).

Molar mass of fluorine = 19g/mol

1.5 mg = 1.5 x 10^-3 g

#moles = mass/molar mass = 1.5*10^-3 / 19 = 7.89 x 10^-5

Since volume of solution was measured in litres, molarity = 7.89 x 10^-5 mol/L or 7.89 x 10^-5 M

Hope this helped :)
