Why is wood a good insulator? I need a scientific explanation please

Hello,
Wood is a good insulator because like other good insulators, it has a high specific heat capacity. This means that it takes a relatively high amount of heat to make wood become hotter and transmit that heat to its surroundings.

Like metals, wood does not have as many free electrons that roam around ie.low electron mobility and hence heat conduction is poor.
