Chemistry and maple syrup

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-27] [Hit: ]
Mix well.1) What do you notice about the solutions colour?2) What does this tell you about its concentration?3) What do you notice about the thickness of the two solutions?4) What is the main solute in “real” maple syrup?5) Could this diluted solution be sold as pure maple syrup without anyone noticing?......
Can someone please answer these for me? Thank you very much!

Observe the colour of pure maple syrup. Now, mix equal quantities of maple syrup and water. Mix well.
1) What do you notice about the solution's colour?
2) What does this tell you about its concentration?
3) What do you notice about the thickness of the two solutions?
4) What is the main solute in “real” maple syrup?
5) Could this diluted solution be sold as pure maple syrup without anyone noticing? Why or why not?
6) What would happen if all (or almost all) of the water was removed from maple syrup by heating or drying?

-
1) Lighter
2) Concentration decreases
3) Pure maple syrup would be thicker than diluted maple syrup
4) Sugar (from sap)
5) I don't think so it would taste less sweet and it would be a thinner solution
6) Sugar crystals would form
