Cant organisms run on oxygen from plants and grass and other foliage?

-
Plants and grass and other foliage convert about 20% of the carbon dioxide to oxygen, we need the 20% provided by trees. Worse when we fail to save a tree the sequestered carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. Neil

-
the only reason is to protect organisms living in or on the trees, otherwise trees are a renewable resource and can be replanted
