like when he say homo sapiens, homo sapiens sapiens, homo this, homo that. who decided these should be the words to describe this taxonomy? it seems to me irritatingly awkward and I want to know who to blame.

Classifying and naming organisms has been around since the ancient Greeks and Romans.

However, the binomial nomenclature (two part name: homo sapiens for example) was coined by Linnaeus

He felt that the names the people before him used were too long, too general, and can misinform people.

So, he devised his own way of classifying and identifying organisms by devising the binomial nomenclature system (scienctific name). The first part of the binomial nomenclature is the genus of the organism. The second part identifies the species of the organism in said genus.

Both parts of the scientific name are in Latin so that the system can be universal. No mattter where you are in the world, Linnaeus' bionomial nomenclature will remain in Latin

Hope I answered your question...

Take a quick look at the words and tell me what language that might sound like.

I'll give you a hint - it's Latin.
