I am on the fence of majoring in Biology or History in college. Right now I am in History mostly because I LOVE it. I research historical events all day just for fun, so I know that college will be really easy for me if that's the major I choose. However, the job opportunities after college will be a history teacher and I have no desire to be a teacher whatsoever.
So my other option is Biology. I love biology and find it so fascinating and fun to study, the problem is Im just not good at it. Where as history I know more than my teachers in some cases, Biology I feel like a fish out of water. Everyone else always knows the answers before me and I feel like its because for all the time I have spent studying and memorizing history, they have done the same for Biology.
So I am hesitant to switch because I feel like my brain is wired for History, but again I feel like its only because I spent so much time on it. So majoring in Biology will be much harder for me and will require more work, but in the long run I feel like a science degree is not only better for job opportunities, but is more useful than a bunch of historical events memorized.
So can someone please help me and tell me what Biology is like in college? Will it be impossible for me since I am so far behind others who have been preparing for this for years? Because like I said where their knowledge will be at say a freshman in college level, im more of a freshman in high school. I know I am behind so can someone tell me if this is just to hard to pull off? I really need some help deciding so all help is appreciated.
Just for some more info, I PLAN on earning a masters degree in epidemiology after college, so if anyone knows any detailed info on how this job is that would be great (I say detailed because I already know the general idea of the job). And again, I feel like Im supposed to major in history but theres just something gnawing at my brain tempting me, almost telling me to major in biology. Like i said, i dont know basically anything advanced about biology, but i feel like im a kid watching the moon landings in the late 60's, i feel like theres something out there i need to explore or learn, i feel like theres more to life then just memorizing a text book and I want to get out into the world and see for myself. I know its hard to describe but I just have this feeling of something or someone guiding me down this path, and I dont know if i should take it or not. I know you probably think im crazy or something but please help me and tell me if you have ever experienced a feeling or thought like this.
