Where did the universe form from, I am not talking about the matter within the universe...

Like space itself, where did this empty space come from?

The universe creates it's own space. If you collapse space into a 2 dimensional surface, the Universe may appear as a hyper-dimensional sphere and as the sphere grows, so too does the 3 dimensional space that constitutes it's surface.
