Do blue jays eat squirrels

I just watched a blue jay chase a small red squirrel up and down a tree. Was he hunting it for breakfast?

It's entirely possible. Blue jays mainly eat berries and nuts and other things of that nature, but they are omnivores and occasionally will hunt smaller animals.

Sometimes they will eat baby squirrels.
