So, my eyes are Hazel and have some green in them, does that mean that I might have a recessive green gene or something?
I sorta hope so, because, you see red hair green eyes, do run in my family (Irish/Scottish-Dad's side) and I love my Irish man, someday I really hope to have a red haired/green eyed daughter, so, if I know I have a gene for it, that'd give me more hope-but I just wanna know the truth, instead of just hopeful or wishful thinking.

Hey, In humans, the inheritance pattern followed by green eyes is considered similar to that of a recessive trait (in general, eye color inheritance is considered a polygenic trait, meaning that it is controlled by the interactions of several genes, not just one). So, I say "YES", maybe. Good luck!

Eye color is, as someone has said, very complex and controlled by more than one set of alleles, but if your eyes are not brown, you have genes which dominate blue but which would be recessive to brown. I have green eyes, which are rarer than are blue because of the combination of alleles needed to make this iris color. Hazel eyes are not the same as green, nor are they light brown. You have genes which put more melanin in your irises but yes..you could very well carry genes for green or even blue eyes which have not been expressed. My father's eyes were green too, my mother's were sky blue, so green dominated blue but not brown or hazel. Wow..sorry to take the long way around but human eye color is very complex.
Red hair is similar; my dad's hair was red, my mother's dark brown. Mine is light brown, my husband has red hair like his dad and our son's hair is dark brown like my mother's. Go figure! The bottom line is that it is possible, depending on your allele combination, for you to have a child, boy or girl, with red hair and green eyes but it depends on what the father's combinations are too.
