We live on a large lot, but our next door-neighbor has sheep, dogs, cats and some other domestic animals. They are about 1 acre away from our house. I am pretty sure that these animals are not vaccinated. We never touch the animals, but are we still at risk for parasites and worms?

If your neighbor's animals stay on their property and you have no direct with them, there is very little concern that you will become infected with internal parasites as a result of living next door to them. If the animals came on your property, they can carry fleas and other external parasites and/or worms and other "gross things" in their feces, but you would still have to come in contact with the stool for the remote chance of a worm infestation. Wearing shoes and practicing good hygiene such as frequent hand washing, eliminates any great risk.
If your neighbors cannot afford routine preventative care for their animals, provided by a veterinarian, there are other options. In the United States, animal vaccinations, effective dewormers, (containing fenbendazole), injectable penicillin, eye ointments, various medications, etc., can be purchased at most large animal supply stores. The chance of many serious diseases can be eliminated with proper vaccinations. However, in most states, rabies vaccines must be administered by a licensed veterinarian.. Even so, low cost rabies clinics are held in most regions. There is no excuse.
If you are concerned, simply stay away from your neighbor's property and practice good hygiene and you should have no problems. Best wishes.
