Why do people test on animals

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-09-02] [Hit: ]
The results arent even accurate. Animals will react to chemicals and medicines differently than humans. I know people pay the scientist to test on the animals, but why would someone want to do such a horrible thing. What if people payed scientist to capture humans and lock them up and test on their body. I know that there is a new more efficient and accurate way so why is animal testing still happening?......
I know that the world is a cruel place and there is no such thing as world peace, but why do animals get tested on. The results aren't even accurate. I don't necessarily support all types of animal testing, but there are solid reasons for it. Before a potentially harmful medicine or product can go to market, the producers will want adequate proof that humans will not be harmed by using it. If someone gets hurt or killed because of some skin cream, the maker of that skin cream could be sued for lots of money. It would also be sad. So, in order to prevent that from happening, scientists are paid to test the product (or certain substances within the product) on animals before they begin human testing. As far as medical products are concerned, their are many steps before a product can go to market. This is the law. A medicine will not get approval until years of research are conducted and tests and human trials are done successfully. This all costs millions and millions of dollars, btw. These steps are necessary in order to ascertain the safety of the product. If you can come up with another process that is just as effective and safe for humans, you are free to try.

Of course, not all animals are very similar to us genetically, so labs try to do the best they can. Primates are often used in medical research because they are closer to us genetically than say, rabbits. Is this sad? Yes. But it's better than conducting tests on humans for medical research (remember the 1930s and 40s? Bad idea). Now, primates are rather less abundant (and more expensive) than other animals, so they aren't used to test everything. Rabbits and mice are fast breeders and are very cheap. That's why they are more commonly used in tests for things like shampoo or skin cream. Please understand that I do not condone needless animals testing. If a substance is known to be safe through previous tests, then animals should not be sacrificed again and again.

because most people in this world
r just a piece of sh*t! and i think it is horrible and cruel that they test on animals! but even if it is mean i guess they hav to test it out on someone...
