If evolution is real, then how come there are still monkeys in the world

I get the feeling that many people in this question misunderstand how evolution works. Evolution is simply a process through which creatures become more adapted to their environment. So to the gentleman with the dinosaur example, the therapods didn't magically just lengthen their necks because they felt the need to. Over time, a long time, millions of years, if the creatures lived in an environment in which a long neck was an advantage, the specimens that had longer necks from genetic mutations would be better competitors and breed more, eventually resulting in a larger number of individuals with longer necks every generation.

Humans and apes are in a similar boat. Humans and apes share a common ancestor, but at one point in the distant past, these ancestors spread out across a vast area, and different locales have different requirements from the creatures that live there, so over time, the humans adapted to their choice of environment, and the apes theirs.

It isn't Ape------> Man, but more of a fork with many tongs.

John Smith is correct. I got a perfect score on my biology test about evolution not too long ago. It is a common misconception that humans evolved from apes. The truth is, humans and monkeys share a common ancestor.

This question shows up almost every single day in this forum. There are no "evolutionists" --- evolution is a simple, readily observable fact, not a belief. People are NOT descended from monkeys... that is a creationist lie.

We DID come from monkeys, because the aliens came and put their DNA in with that of a gorilla and out came homo-erectus. It is both evolution and creationism at play in this world.

Only the smart monkeys evolved :P

Same reason why if there is a heaven then why do we see things such as... Spirits or other paranormal activity?

The theory of evolution doesn't state that monkeys evolved INTO humans, just that humans evolved FROM monkeys.
